History of Bomb Jack
Mighty Bomb Jack was one of the more playable games first released in 1987 for the Nintendo Entertainment System. It was because of games such as this that the console became popular among gamers. It helped give the console a base from which it could then go on to dominate the market for the proceeding years. The games first incarnation "Bomb Jack" appeared in the arcades three years prior. It is considered a true classic in gaming circles.
The History of Bomb Jack: Super Hero Extraordinaire
The game was released in 1984, published and developed by Tecmo for it's arcade release. Bomb Jack is a single or two player game of the platform genre.
The object of the game is to guide our superhero Jack around various tourists resorts and defuse all the bombs that are on the screen, there are usually 24 bombs per level. Jack simply has to fly over the bombs in order for him to defuse them. There are a number of power ups or bonuses that will help the player achieve a high score.
To prevent Jack from defusing the bombs, there are various enemies that if Jack comes into contact with them he instantly loses a life. As the game progresses, so do the amount of enemies on screen.
Conversions and Sequels
Since the release of the original Bomb Jack has made his way on various other home consoles and computers, including; Amstrad CPC; Commodore 64; ZX Spectrum; Nintendo Game Boy; Atari ST.
The game has also had two true sequels, these are;

There was also a version especially released for 8 bit home computers entitles Bomb Jack 2.
